Wednesday, November 15th

Jaden and I are sitting on the couch. I notice a scratch on his hand and his nose. "Where did you get that scratch on your hand?" "A cat scratched me." I thought this a little odd since he hasn't seen a cat in over a month. "A wild cat," he said, "it was a tiger." "Where did you see the tiger?" "It was in the jungle." "Where is the tiger now?" "Oh, he's gone. He didn't get hurt." I am intrigued by this conversation because he is relaying this information with the straightest of faces. "How did you get the scratch on your nose?" I asked. "That one was from a lion." "How did you get to the jungle?" I asked him. "I swung there on a vine," he told me. The conversation ended. He was just as matter a fact with the telling of events as if he had just told me he had peanut butter and jelly for lunch. What goes on in his mind?

So Rachel has figured out how to open the fridge. Not great since she would eat 24/7. Three times over the last couple of days she has come to find me with a big smoked pheasant leg in her hand gnawing on a huge bite.

Nothing new with Gretchen, Bob or me today...just getting ready to leave for the Kalahari. Gretchen goes to Grammie and Grandpa's on Thursday and then we leave first thing Friday morning. The kids are excited!!
