Today she found a new hiding space. The linen closet. However, in order for her to hide in there she first has to take ALL of the towels and ALL of the sheets out of it. They are all still sitting in the middle of the bathroom floor. I know they aren't going anywhere and I didn't really feel like picking them up. Oh, did I mention that when I kicked her out of the linen closet she took all of the cusions off of the couch? Now when I say all of this it kind of makes her sound out of control, which we all know she's not...she's just 100% her daddy's girl. (Oh Bob, did I mention to thank you for that? Maybe I shouldn't be thanking you.)
Jaden is entirely fascinated with playing outside in the snow. He doesn't like the fact that it is nearly impossible for me to go out there with three kids, two of which can't really do anything. Gretchen doesn't like to get all bundled up because literally she can't even sit up by herself with all of that stuff on. Rachel just walks around the driveway because her short little legs can't get her through the snow. And if she falls over she can't get herself back up. So needless to say, Jaden hasn't spent enough time outside and hasn't been able to build a snowman yet.
Gretchen is turning into Rachel 2, which I totally didn't think would happen. Here I thought she was going to be this very quiet little girl, but no. She is just as quick, climby (if that's a word) and stealth as her older sister. Her newest adventure is trying to get herself up the stairs...and empty the bottom two drawers in the kitchen about a million times a day. I have given up picking up after her and only do it a couple of times a day. Why pick it up...30 seconds after I do everything is back on the floor again.
I shed a tear today when the mail came. We got our official invitation to Kindergarten Roundup. My little boy is not such a little boy anymore. Next year off to school he'll go...and he'll love it.

These stories sound like the ones I used to tell. Only they were about Jeremy and not Mari. But we do survive and the stories are really fun to share - especially 30 years later. And Jeremy turned out pretty great too even if he did raise Mom's blood pressure. All children can't be Jaden's and Mari's.
