Yikes!

'Twas 6 days before Christmas....and I am totally NOT ready. It's my own fault...I'm a total procrastinator. I was going be done Christmas shopping by the first week of December, but I didn't start until two days ago. I was also going to do Christmas cards this year....and it's not going to happen. Is there anything wrong with doing "welcome to the new year" cards? That I could maybe get done...and maybe we could even get a decent picture of all four kids together on Christmas...one can hope, right?

Well, winter has hit us. I don't know why it surprises me so much every year. I'll never move to a warmer climate, but I wouldn't mind if it never got below 50...ever. It's not so bad, but I wish I could convince Rachel that wearing a hat and mittens was a good idea. She doesn't seem to mind the cold and since we're never outside for that long at a time, it's just not worth the fight. (Little does she know that I have them in the van just in case.) Now Gretchen on the other hand loves to wear her hat and mittens in the house. That girls definitely loves her accessories.

Jaden got to go on a very fun field trip for school yesterday. The went to the Mill City Museum. He had a lot of fun and learned A LOT...which he has been telling me ever since he got home. He is amazed that it takes five different jobs to make one piece of bread...but you'd have to ask him what they are since I already forgot. I've decided that he must have a photographic memory.Photobucket

Why do the things that my kids do catch me off guard? You'd think I'd know by now to expect the unexpected. Right now, as I sit here, Rachel is trying to scale the wall in the bathroom. She has one foot on the toilet and one on the wall and she is trying to crawl up it. And since she just went to the bathroom, she of course doesn't have any pants on...at all. What does she think she is? Naked Spiderman? Oh the stories I could tell of Rachel.Photobucket

Gretchen is very excited for Christmas, but not for the reason you may think. She doesn't seem to care about the presents...or maybe she just doesn't remember that she's going to get some. She is really excited to spend many days at Becky and Bumpa's house with Evie. I have a feeling these girls are going to be best of friends...which at times may mean worst enemies. I think they're going to be very much alike...both very determined and want things their own way. I bet I hear Gretchen say, "me do it myself" about 20 times a day. And if you do something for her...like put Photobucketon her shoes, she'll take them off and put them on herself.

Luke is sleeping through the night for the most part...which I am very thankful for. Now if I could get him to take a good nap during the day, all would be well with the world. He seems to be a cat napper these days, which doesn't make my life easy. So I have taken to wearing him in the Moby for the most part...or at least until I need my own space. I need to figure out why he keeps waking himself up so I can actually get something done during the day.Photobucket

Bob and I went to a really fun Christmas party last weekend. It was at the Minnesota Zoo in Discovery Bay. It was really fun to hang out with friends with all of the fish, sharks and turtles swimming all around us. Unfortunately there was something wrong with the dolphin tank and they had to move them to another tank the day before so we didn't get to see them. It was a lot of fun.Photobucket

That's it for today...I have to try to get something done around here...and I have to try to get some pants on Rachel.
