Happy Thanksgiving!! We had a nice, relaxing Thanksgiving with Bob's family (minus Heidi and Amos.) I'm glad it's finally Saturday, because I have thought it was Saturday since Thursday...and it's made me all confused. Jaden hasn't had school all week and he is definitely ready to go back.
Updates on the kids...
Jaden: We had our first school conferences on the 19th. We love Jaden's teacher, but unfortunately she is moving and he will have a new teacher on Monday. He is doing great in school and his teacher gave us some great ideas on how to keep him challenged at home. She is going to let the new teacher know about the things he is going at home...with his reading, worksheets, math skills (including his newest feat...multiplication) so that she will know how to direct him. They are starting their reading groups soon so I am excited to see how that will go.
Rachel: We are finally getting serious about potty training. She just didn't care for the longest time. She still doesn't really care except that she wans to wear "big girl panties." She had a couple good days last week. We did take a couple days off over Thanksgiving, but we are back at it today and she hasn't even had an accident yet. I pretty much have to force her on the potty though. I could ask her 100 times if she has to go, but she always says no. Good thing that she likes chocolate because I can bribe her with an M&M. She's a girl after my own heart. She is talking so well now. I can understand everything she says and everyone else can understand most of it. My little girl is almost three and I can hardly believe it.
Gretchen: Gretchen is an adventure. She has taken to becoming a nudist. Ever since she has learned how to take off her clothes she does it whenever she feels like it. Yesterday Bob caught her, totally nude...diaper included...standing in Rachel's bottom drawer, going to the bathroom. I guess she thought it was the potty. At least it was only pee...we had enough of the other with Rachel. She is starting to talk a lot more too. She says baby, cracker, again, more, bottle (for cup) dada, mama and up. I'm sure there's more, but that's what she uses most. Of course it's only when she wants to and never when I want her to show off. If I thought Rachel was independent, Gretchen is more so. She is very interested in Rachel using the potty, so I have a feeling that she will get trained earlier...which I am totally ok with. It would be nice to be done with diapers for a while.
We are off to the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells on Thursday. The kids can't wait. We have had a countdown calendar for the last month and they are so excited that we are only a few days away. We will spend all of Thursday and Friday in the water and then part of Saturday and Sunday. They will look like prunes by the time we get home. My mom and dad are coming to help out with the kids and the kids are super excited to be able to spend the weekend with Becky and Bumpa in a hotel. I think Jaden has the whole weekend planned out. I am looking forward to being out of the rat race for a couple days and be able to just relax.
I can't believe it's already Christmas season again. It seems like it was just here. I am actually feeling in the Christmas season early this year and feel like putting up my tree...but I probably won't do it until we get back into town. I want to do a real tree this year, so we'll see if I can talk Bob into it.
Well...that it from us for now. Sorry, no pictures to update you with. Our camera died and we are in the process of picking out a new one. I am really itching to get some new pictures of the kids. Love you all!!
