Oh, the joys of being a parent...
I LOVE being a mom, but there are those times that you wish you could forget...let me elaborate. Last night Rachel and I had a battle of wills on whether she was going to stay in her crib or not. I probably put her back in there 5 or 6 times. Everything was quiet...that should have been my first clue...when I heard her playing with toys. The light was on in Jaden's room and the door was open, but I didn't see her. I went looking for her and then heard her in Jaden's closet. She was playing with his toys and he was asleep in his bed. I bent down to pick her up and put her back in her crib, but she was stalling and wanted a glass of water, so upstairs we went. Half way up the stairs she started throwing up all over me. I didn't know a two year old's stomach could hold that much stuff. So now she and I are covered in yucky, nasty smelling stuff. I very carefully get our clothes off, trying not to get it in our hair (yuck) when she tells me that she's hungry. Um, no. We aren't putting anymore food in that stomach to be sent right back out again. Then she kept touching her tongue and telling me it was yucky...I'm sure it was. (just a tip here, if you ever have a bunch of clothes and towels that are covered in vomit, rinse them out in the sink first instead of just throwing them in the washer...you will have to wash them at least twice and clean out your washer of leftovers inbetween each wash.) We get cleaned up, redressed and a glass of water for Rachel and I put her to sleep on the couch. I spent the next two hours doing things that needed to get done and then put her to bed in her crib. Fast forward a few hours. I had been sleeping for a few hours when Gretchen decided it's her turn to be awake. So I feed her. For the next I don't know how long she decided that she wanted to keep waking up. She could be teething. Bless Bob for getting up with her. Fast forward again...I had gone to bed late, then been awaken by Gretchen a number of times when at 7am (way too early) Jaden decides it's time to start his day. Bless Bob again when he told him to get in bed with me and not make a sound. That worked for a while and then I ended up turning PBS on for him to watch. Thank goodness it's President's Day and there was a Curious George marathon (George to George, get it?) So our day started very late and now I feel like our schedule is totally off. The girls are both napping right now...wait, why am I on the computer then? I should be reading or being productive. OK, better use the time while I can. More updates later. :)
