Our New Pet Monkey
I know I have yet to update with the events of Luke first birthday. I know, I know...a first time mom would have done the update that evening after putting the birthday boy to bed. However, I'm not a first time mo
m...I'm a mom of four, wife, business owner, woman, follower of Jesus, housekeeper, short order cook, entertainment coordinator and taxi...not in that order of course. So, I'm not even going to say I'm sorry for the delay; you'll just have to deal with it. :) It was a great day though. How did my baby...my very last baby...turn one so quickly. I remember when Jaden was born everything seemed to move much slower. Even my pregnancy went slower. I remember when I was finally 10 weeks
pregnant. It seemed to take so long. With Luke it seemed that one day I found out I was pregnant and the next day I was holding t
his brand new, perfect little person. Anyway, that's a post for another time.
So, monkey boy. Luke started walking around his first birthday. He really wanted to walk but wasn't so sure he should take his first step. He watched his cousin Julia wa
lking at her first birthday party and decided that it was something he should try. It didn't take many tries and he was officially a walker. Well, now he runs...and climbs. Running isn't bad. We have a gate at the top of the stairs so I know he isn't going anywhere...and we move a chair at the bottom of the stairs so he can't go up...since he refuses to take the time to learn to go down. (I'm pretty sure he knows how to go down, but he's strong willed and refuses to show me he can.) Climbing is another story. He likes to look out of the window in the living room. He stands on the basket of books to look out, but then falls into the basket and gets stuck. I tried putting the stool from the bathroom there to make it easier for him, but he wants the basket. Did I mention that he's a strong willed child? A few days ago he learned how to climb up on the couch. Not a big deal right? Well, he gets up on the couch downstairs, climbs up on top of the back and onto the ledge by the window. I caught him standing there yesterday. And, like any veteran mom I got my camera. By the time I got back he was sitting on the ledge. Needless to say, today I pulled the couch away from the wall...and Luke got mad.
