The kids finally have snow!!!

Well, finally the kids got to try out their snow boots. We put Gretchen down for a nap this morning and out the door we went...well, after 10 or 15 minutes of getting everyone all bundled up. They had so much fun. Rachel looked like that kids from the Christmas Story. I was sure she would never be able to get up if she fell over, but she did. I pulled them around the yard in their sleds, they made snow angels and just played a ton. They loved it. I unfortunately shoveled the driveway. I thought our driveway was big in the old house...this one is longer and twice as wide. If feels great to have it done though...and I think Bob will owe me a back rub. Here are the pictures I was able to get before the batteries went dead in the camera. It's so funny...it's the middle of January and you can still see the grass poking up through the snow. This isn't the first snow we have got, but it's the first that lasted more than 24 hours...I think this one is here to stay.

I think that Gretchen is going to be as adventurous as Rachel. I went into her room after she woke up from her nap and she was on her knees looking over the edge of her crib. I really can't put off dropping the mattress in her crib. Last night she crawled over to the stairs in the basement and tried to crawl up. She got up on her knees and kept trying to get her feet under her, but she didn't quite make it. I know it won't be long though.

Funny things the kids says....

Luke: "Mom, I just not that into cleaning."

Luke, after getting out of bed for the fourth time: "My goggy (doggy) needs one more kiss and hug." Yeah, right.

Luke: Asking if he can sleep in Jaden's bed tonight "Pwease...I do anything."

Rachel: "Sometimes I feel like I'm just a Popsicle in a Rachel suit."

Rachel: "Mom, look at that nutcracker. He looks sooo charming."

Me: "How did Luke get hurt?" (asking because he was bleeding and we were on our way to the ER for stitches)
Gretchen: "I pushed him. It was an accident, I think."

Jaden: "After a little bit can we talk about this boyfriend/girlfriend thing again, because I could use all the help I can get." (Lord help me, he's 8.)

Rachel: "Bow chicka bow wow."
Bob: "Where did you hear that?"
Rachel: "I made it up 8 years ago. It made me famous. I was in newspapers all over the land."

Jaden: "Mom, it's the first day of school and Rachel already has a boyfriend."
Me: "Rachel, you have a boyfriend?"
Rachel: "Yes."
Me: "What's his name?"
Rachel: "I don't remember. But he had a red shirt on."

Jaden yells: "Mom, Luke peed on Rachel!"

Rachel: "Mom, Luke is my nemesis."

Gretchen: "I am the master and you should listen to my mouth."

Jaden: "School must be really long in heaven."
Me: "Why?"
Jaden: "Well, if 1000 years is as a day and a day as a 1000 years, that's one long school day."

Rachel: "I can see good in the dark, but I'm not nocturnal."

Me: "Rachel, could you tell Louie to get out of the sandbox if he jumps in?"
Rachel: "Yes, but I don't speak puppy."

Rachel: "Mom, Jesus lives in my heart and I think he's grocery shopping."

Me, to Luke while he's looking in the fridge: "Are you hungry?"
Luke: "Yes, yes, yes!"

Jaden: "Mom, Rachel and Gretchen are being the A word."
Me: "What A word?" (a little concerned)
Jaden: "Annoying"

Rachel, when talking about our latest snail that died: "I think we must have given him too much allergy to eat." (obviously she meant algae)

Gretchen: "Prince Charming's name is Josiah. He is my best friend and I'm going to marry him."

Gretchen: "Mom, I'm the ruler. Say, 'Gretchen, you're the ruler.'"

Jaden: "Did the deer fall down dead or did he just lose an antler?" (after we hit a deer)

Rachel: "there's no brain in my head, it's a green polka-dot idea emergency."

Rachel: "Sometimes people that doesn't have brains don't think." (she doesn't know how right she is :) )

Rachel: "My teacher is going to say, 'oh my, those curls are very unusual.'"

Me: "Gretchen, what's your name?"
Gretchen: "Gretchen Elizabeth Come Here."
